Thumbs up from the Standard Times
In their 11/07/05 review of weekly news, the Standard Times commented on this meeting:
"Thumbs
up for Gene Soccolich, adviser to the Port of New Bedford Business
Alliance, several fishing vessel owners and leaders of Oceana, the
national environmental group that works to restore fisheries, for meeting
for 3½ hours last Wednesday in the galley of a fishing boat to seek common
ground. These discussions can only help bring together the various sides
that spend too much time in court disagreeing and not enough time building
a sustainable industry and restoring a healthy marine ecosystem."
